ETA Bridge 2 Bridge

About Bridge

In partnership with the San Mateo Police Activities League, ETA was given an incredible opportunity to introduce a new pilot program in 2023 called ETA Bridge to Bridge. Our goal is to build a bridge for 1st generation 8th graders, so they feel included in their high school from their 1st day of 9th grade. At the other end of their high school journey, we are building a bridge to college to enhance their probability of success. This ETA Bridge to Bridge pilot focuses on grade 8.5 and grade 12.5 models where ETA facilitates and supports two critical educational and social transitions post-pandemic that we recognize now more than ever have been severely impacted.

Bridge 8.5 places 36 male and female students from the middle schools in San Mateo and Foster City in ETA groups that meet weekly and will continue into their four years in high school. Bridge students visit their high school campus at least twice a semester. Students come to the high school campus once a month and attend our Summer Bridge Camp to ensure they feel connected to our educators and campus before entering high school.

In Bridge 12.5, we work with the retention specialist from the College of San Mateo to connect seniors with assistance to plan and prepare for their first year of college. We take students to the College of San Mateo and Skyline College multiple times yearly. We connect students to programs that are catered toward student success. We help students register for classes and follow up with them through their first semester in their college or career path.
