Jeff Gilbert

Jeff Gilbert started teaching social studies at Hillsdale in 1996 and has been Principal at Hillsdale High School since 2005. Mr. Gilbert received his Masters of Education, teaching credentials and B.A. in History from Stanford University and his M.A. in Educational Administration (K-12) from San Jose State University. 

He taught for eleven years, including five at Hillsdale, before co-founding East Palo Alto Charter High School, under the leadership of Linda Darling-Hammond. Mr. Gilbert earned his National Board Certification and Administrative credential while at East Palo Alto Charter and returned to Hillsdale High School in 2005 as an administrator. 

Jeff coordinates Hillsdale’s partnership with Stanford’s Teacher Education Program (STEP) and School Redesign Network (SRN), as well as the Learning Policy Institute (LPI) and has served as a guest lecturer and coach for STEP, SRN and the Graduate School of Education at Stanford. In 2017, Jeff received the Alumni Excellence Award from Stanford University’s School of Education. All three of Jeff’s children are proud graduates of Hillsdale High School.
