Patricia (Patty) Siguenza
Board Chair
Board of Directors
Patty Siguenza is the former Vice President of BioAnalytical Sciences (BAS) at Genentech. Under her leadership, BAS became a premier department driving drug development through innovative bioanalytical and immunogenicity strategies. Her team provided critical data supporting molecules from discovery through approval. She implemented a strategic outsourcing approach and integrated advanced laboratory information systems and automation to boost efficiency and data quality.
Starting her Genentech career in the late 1980s after earning a B.S. in Clinical Sciences from San Francisco State University and an A.S. in Biology from the College of San Mateo, she played a key role in the development and approval of major medicines globally and contributed to numerous portfolio review committees and technical forums.
A passionate advocate for inclusion, Patty co-founded the Genentech Development Sciences Rotational Program (DSRP) to give top graduates hands-on training in drug development, leadership, and people strategy. She also served as the executive sponsor for three Employee Resource Groups—VIDA (Genentech’s Latino network), SACNAS (industry chapter), and gAbilities (supporting employees with disabilities and their allies)—demonstrating her commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
Her leadership and impact have been widely recognized. In 2020, the San Francisco Business Times named her one of the “Most Influential Women in the Bay Area,” an honor recognizing women leaders across industries for their professional achievements, leadership, and community engagement. In 2023, she received the “WOCIP Trailblazer Award” for her 36 years of dedication to advancing inclusive research. The award honors individuals driving innovation in life sciences while actively empowering women of color across the industry.
Deeply passionate about education, she dedicates herself to mentoring and coaching students, recent graduates, and professionals to help them develop their skills and advance their careers—a commitment rooted in her upbringing and education. She actively supports her community as the immediate past chair of the San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation Board, where she played a key role in affirming the Auxiliary nature and updating the Foundation’s bylaws, and she currently serves as director emeritus and is on the San Francisco State University Foundation Board.
Since retiring from Genentech in September of 2024, she has remained active in various volunteer activities while spending quality time with her husband, dog, family, and friends. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and making new connections. She looks forward to making a meaningful impact as a member of the ETA board.
